There is one more technique which can be used for binding which is known as hand binding. It was started years back. If we are wishing to get a document which is in a readable condition then we have to take the help of hand binding. Earlier many people use to keep most of there documents in scrolls which was difficult to use also. Later this method was very difficult to use and afterwards this technique of binding by hands was developed. In earlier method the way of maintaining paper was also different as it was kept by using sewing method. As this method of keeping the documents was difficult that’s why the technique of book binding was introduced. The technique used by various people for book binding was different. Some of the methods used are very easy to understand but some of the techniques are really difficult to follow.
There are several types of book binding techniques used. The most common type of bookbinding technique includes saddle stitch,yotsume toji,perfect binding,hardcover binding and Coptic binding. We can now discuss all of the methods in brief. In the technique of saddle stitch all the papers are placed in a serial wise manner and stitching is done from the center. Second type of technique is known as yotsume toji in which small kind of holes are made in the edges of the paper. When the stitching is done in this way then we can get a special kind of book known as hand bound book. Many types of book which we are getting nowadays through machines is of perfect type. In this type of method every single signature is held tightly which will help us in getting the book in a proper way. In hardcover binding method a special type of cardboard is used known as thick cardboard which can also be used to cover the books.
